David Tennant to Leave Doctor Who?!!

tennant_2.jpg

In a recent BBC radio interview, Catherine Tate, who will be playing the Doctor’s newest companion in the upcoming season of Doctor Who, mentioned that this may be the last season that David Tennant will be playing The Doctor!!!

Now, I’m not sure if Ms. Tate would even be in a position to know something like this, especially when the BBC has said before that David Tennant will be staying in the title role until at least 2010!

The BBC has refused to comment on this statement, which in a way, seems to indicate that it just might be true!

Only time will tell…

Wow, they don’t stay to long do they? ‘cept for Tom Baker who was the doctor for years and years. I do hope he stays, I’ve gotten used to him.

Off topic, sorta. On DW when they aged the doctor and Jack was held hostage…how long was that? Wondering how he’s gonna explain being gone for any length of time from Torchwood. Or he could come back to the same moment in time as to when he left Gwen wondering where he had gone, which is more likely. And I wonder if this is when Torchwood will first meet Martha?

TigerYogiji replies: In the story it was a year. But when the Paradox Machine in the TARDIS was destroyed, Time reset itself and went backwards a year in time, and no one but those on the carrier remembered the “year that never happened”. So Torchwood wouldn’t even have noticed him gone for more than a day or so probably…

I really like him and I hope he will stay on. I would think if you were in a hit show you would want to stay. I was suprised that Christopher Eccleston left after one season, it is not like he is all that well known and clamoring to do other things. Even Billie Piper has decided to come back for some episodes. I guess that they have different priorities there. Here, we have shows that have 22 eps per season and go on longer than they should. There, you want more and the show just stops. Odd.

Yep… It’s a good thing that the Doctor regenerates, since there sure have been a whole bunch of doctors.

    Favorite Doctor: Tom Baker
Runner Ups: Sylvester McCoy and Peter Davidson
    Least Favorite Doctor: Colin Baker.

    Favorite Companion: Leela (the savage)
Least Favorite Companion: Adrick (boy mathematician from e-space)

I think the show has adapted well to change so far, so I’m hopeful.

I heard that he’ll do 3 bank holiday specials in 2009, and a full series in 2010. After that, it’s very likely that he’ll leave.

But a full 2010 series seems highly probable from what they’ve been saying.

In case anyone is still unsure, David is NOT leaving! He has already filmed the Christmas 08 special, and is slated for 4 one hour specials next year. He HAS said in the media, that even he doesn’t know yet whether he will do series 5, simply because he’s not been asked yet–tho’ I suspect he will be, soon.

Only an obtuse idiot wouldn’t see that David simply ADORES being the Doctor, and I really think that he may continue to go on to Series 5, IF nothing better offers itself up to him. After all, acting is his profession, and the one constant about acting is, that sooner or later you DO have to leave a role behind.

I love David Tennant. I think he is amazing and a brilliant actor. And he’s really gorgeous! I hope he doesn’t before 2010, becuase I will cry. Seriously. And I find it so hard to imagine someone as the Doctor after him, because there’s so much history and background. With David Tennant’s Doctor you can clearly see he has been through a lot and is lonely, just by looking in his eyes, so whoever is after him has some very large shoes to fill.
    *sniff*

I love David and think he is awesomly hot. I was also hoping that he would beat Tom’s record of seven seasons.
