Teddy

Teddy is almost six years old, and is a Poodle/Jack Russell Terrier(?) mix.

Teddy hasn’t had the easiest of lives.

As a puppy, he was given to the daughter of a family in the area.

At first she was delighted with him, but, as the months went by, she got bored with him and he ended up being neglected.

The mother of the family eventually turned him over to a rescue agency as she felt that he wasn’t getting the attention that he deserved.

So he was adopted by another family as a “gift” to their daughter.

But, apparently the daughter of that family got bored with him as well, and he was returned to the rescue agency again.

Only this time, he hadn’t been cared for quite as well.

When he was returned to the rescue agency, his fur was matted and unkept. And he had somehow contracted Lyme Disease. (It was suspected that he had been tied outside for long periods of time.)

“This time”, the rescue agency said, ” we will only let Teddy be adopted by a family where HE will be “the child”, and he will get all of the love and care that he so richly deserves”.

But where would they find such a family?

Enter the Ashram at Pooh Corner.

I saw Teddy’s photo and read his story on the agency’s website, and it was love at first site.

Husbandji felt the same way.

After going through the adoption process and a home visit/interview, we were asked by the agency if we would like to adopt Teddy.

What do you think we said, my minions?

Teddy joined our family this past Friday, where he will have a “forever home” for the rest of his life…

“Change” is a good thing, don’t you think? 🙂

OOOOOOH Tiger! Teddy is adorable! and I KNEW you needed a four legged friend when the time was right! and the time must have been right! And I know he has a good home now! I hope to see more pictures of him doing mischievious things (like chewing on a Barbie head, maybe?) 🙂

TigerYogiji replies: Oh, you are WICKED!! 😉

Oh, Tigeryogiji!!!! Teddy *SO* reminds me of my princess (with the exception that she is all white). He looks to be about the same size and about the same age. My princess is also a rescue (from what we are certain was abuse). Be patient with Teddy!! He will probably take some time and “act out” until he learns that he can trust you two. If he is anything like my princess, we will repay manifoldlly in love for the loving, patient home you give him.

Give Teddy a pooch smooch from Uncle Lem!

Change, in this case, is a wonderful thing, especially if you are Teddy.

Before long, I bet he’ll feel like he finally won the doggy lottery! And the dividends of welcoming someone furry into the family will pay you back forever. Hugs to him and to you and well, let’s just have a big hug fest!

    Welcome Teddy, enjoy the attention!

TigerYogiji replies: It depends. Will you roll on your back and let me give you a belly rub? ;P

Ahhhhhh TY, you and your husband have outdone yourselves!!
What a beautiful pooch and little did the “rescue agency” know that Teddy
would “get all of the love and care that he so richly deserves”, with so much, much more than they could possibly imagine.

Teddy has had a difficult life but now he is in your hands to make up for all that. And such wonderful hands he will be in, makes me want to cry. But in a very, very good way.

Change you say. I think that this will be a wonderful one, for you and yours and that adorable ball of fur named Teddy.

Maggie and Rosey (my own beautiful pooch that I love dearly)

Congratulations on adopting a beautiful “baby” boy. : )
My two little girls would LOVE him!
Playdates? Do you have any friends with “little” ones that Teddy can play and socialize with?
How I wish you weren’t so far!! (I’m thinking “baby” shower)
I look forward to hearing stories about Teddyji ; )
    Hugs & Blessings

    *yes, change is GOOD!

TigerYogiji replies: “Teddyji”!! I love it! 🙂

He’s so sweet. He’s lucky to have found you both. Now he has his forever home all sewn up. How long will it be do you wonder before he’s taking over the bed and sofa? lol.

TigerYogiji replies: Don’t laugh, he already has! 🙂

    i got tearful at this
partially for the joy you and teddy will have together
partially for the horror of neglect of an animal; it burns me so.

i am mad-jealous; i want a dog very bad but can not have one responsibly

    TigerYogiji replies: ((HUGS)) 🙂

Congratulations on the addition to the Ashram! So bee-yoo-ti-ful and so ready to be loved. You dads are just the ones to do it.

I can’t help but wonder if Teddyji manifested you and Husbandji out of pure need?

More pictures, more stories, more life!

Oh I love Teddy and am so happy he has found his “forever home”. That is so important, stability and love for an animal. How in the hell people can just “get bored” with a pet I can’t understand much less give one up.

Bless you and Husbandji and good luck with your new baby!

Aw! He’s like my Pebbles. She was a foster child too. Three different homes before she found us and now she’s been our “perpetual toddler” for nearly 6 years 🙂
